Mountain Gorillas, Virunga and Akagera<\/h3>\n

Rwanda<\/strong> is known for its evergreen hills – hence its nickname ‘land of a thousand hills’ – and its mountain gorillas<\/strong> . Rwanda is one of the few countries, along with neighboring Uganda, where mountain gorillas still live. They live in the Virunga<\/strong> Mountains, in the northwest of the country. This Parc National des Volcans<\/strong> also offers ideal opportunities for mountain hikers. In addition, Parc National Nyungwe Forest<\/strong> with over a hundred species of orchids and about three hundred different bird species is more than worth a visit.<\/p>\n
