The friendly and hospitable people will smile at you everywhere. If you look at the country itself, you will see an elongated country with a nature in which everything is protected, from orchids to elephants. Malawi has eleven national parks and game reserves. The most famous is undoubtedly Lake Malawi with more than a thousand species of tropical fish. Diving and snorkeling are allowed as long as the fish are left alone. The best locations are at Nkhata Bay . The oldest, largest and highest national park is that of Nyika , known for its large population of leopards and impressive herds of zebra and (horse) antelope. Also impressive are the herds of elephants and buffalo in the nearby Vwaza Marsh game reserve, which borders neighboring Zambia. However, the largest elephant population can be found in the Liwonde Park in the southeast.
