A special phenomenon on this plateau are the salars or salt flats. The most famous is the <strong>Salar de Uyuni<\/strong> , the second largest salt flat in the world! On the border with <strong>Peru<\/strong> is the beautiful deep blue <strong>Lake Titicaca<\/strong> , the largest lake in South America, and also the highest navigable lake in the world. The east of Bolivia consists of lowlands, partly with tropical rainforest. The mining town is also special<strong> Potosi<\/strong> with ancient silver mines. In Potos\u00ed itself, the Spanish wealth can still be clearly seen in the numerous churches, cathedrals, monasteries and colonial houses. Often built in terracotta color as a tribute to the color of the mountain el Cerro Rico. The capital<strong> sucre<\/strong> , the white city, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its beautiful white colonial buildings and churches.
