Under his rule, violence and crime reigned supreme and Medellin was known as &#8216;the most dangerous city in the world&#8217;. Nowadays it is no longer in the hands of the cartel and now Medellin has turned into a lively city with friendly locals, a vibrant nightlife and many hip cafes. Perhaps the nicest big city in Colombia! Located in a valley in the high Andes, the city has a pleasant temperature of 20 degrees Celsius all year round. Medellin has several attractive parks of which La Plazoleta houses no less than 23 statues by the well-known Colombian artist Botero. A must is the annual flower parade festival at the beginning of August where you will see beautiful floats full of flowers.
