It is part of the larger Belum-Temenggor,which is shared with Thailand. The park is more than 130 million years old.

This ancient forest includes the habitat of 14 (!) of the world’s most endangered mammals, including the Malay tiger,Withandgibbon, Asian elephant, Malay bear,Sumatran rhino and Malay Tapir. However, the chances of these animals showing themselves are quite small. Royal Belum is also one of the rare places where all eight species of hornbills can be spotted.

Lake Temenggor

In the park is Lake Temenggor, a man-made lake in what was once a forest area.
