Most are uninhabited, there are hardly any roads. Even electricity is not a matter of course here. The rhythm of life slows down to the speed of a bike, a tuktuk, a boat or a pair of slippers.

WATER BUFFALOES ON THE BEACH

Actually, you don’t have to do much more here than look around, relax, have a bite to eat, laze in a hammock. The chance encounter with a local resident and the chat with a fisherman brings you close to the people. A beach holiday without the sea, but the Mekong River is everywhere. The beaches and banks sometimes share with water buffaloes, which hang out in the shade for a while.

IRRAWADDY DOLPHINS

The water landscapes of Si Phan Don are nothing short of picturesque. A boat ride through the labyrinth is a visual feast, your camera is working overtime. Continue to scan the surface of the water, looking for signs that dolphins are swimming.
