Often people in desert only think of sand. The beauty of the Tassili du Hoggar is that sand and rocks alternate here. Wind and erosion have created a real sculpture garden. In several places you will find rock carvings depicting giraffes, antelopes or elephants, which bear witness to a past in which it has been less dry here than it is today.
