The park is unique in its kind in Kenya. It contains 125 species of hardwood trees and no less than 330 bird species. In addition, Kakamega is home to 400 species of butterflies, the flying squirrel and several small and medium-sized primates including the fringe monkey, green meerkat, civet cat, Sykes&#8217; monkey and the rare De Brazza&#8217;s monkey.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tropical rainforest in western Kenya.
