\nThe hinterland of all those beautiful beaches depends on the region: palm trees and rocks, rainforest and tsingy, spiny forest and cactus plants, rustic bays with lots of wave action and dreamy beaches where the sea swings imperceptibly between low and high tide. \nThe most beautiful snorkeling and diving locations can be found around Nosy Be<\/strong> and \u00cele Sainte Marie<\/strong>, diving is equally possible from Ifaty<\/strong> and Anakao<\/strong> in the Tul\u00e9ar region.
\nAt all these locations you can observe humpback whales in some seasons.
\nBy far the best chances are during a whale watching excursion from \u00cele Sainte Marie, considered one of the best places in the world for whale watching.
\nHumpback whales pass here every year between July and October in search of a mate.
\nThe Nosy Be Archipelago<\/strong> off the northwest coast consists of several islands – such as Nosy Be, Nosy Komba<\/strong> and Nosy Sakatia<\/strong> – with virgin palm beaches but also the marine reserve at Nosy Tanikely<\/strong> and several locations where many sea turtles graze the seabed.
\nMany whale sharks can be seen around the archipelago from mid-September to mid-December.
\nFrom Nosy Be further south are the beautiful and little-visited \u00celes Radama<\/strong>. <\/p>\nSports activities<\/h3>\n
\nAround the Masoala<\/strong> Peninsula, life revolves mainly around the primary rainforest directly bordering Antongil Bay<\/strong> and the Indian Ocean<\/strong>.
