Hundreds of people are baptized in the royal baths every year during the <strong>Timkat festival<\/strong> commemorating the baptism of Christ. The Debre Birhan Selassie Church is known for its beautiful perspectiveless murals.<\/p>\n<h4>Lalibela rock churches<\/h4>\n<p>In this town located at a height of about 3,000 meters in the northern highlands, King <strong>Lalibela<\/strong> had eleven churches chopped from granite rocks in the ground in the thirteenth century. Angels would have helped with that. According to tradition, the intention was to raise a second Jerusalem here.
