In the far southeast of Alaska lies a remote, pristine nature reserve of wooded islands, water and ice. Only Haines<\/strong> and Skagway<\/strong> are accessible by land, after which the road soon stops. A dozen inhabited places can only be reached by boat or plane, the rest of the area is uninhabited, rugged and pure. The feeling of desolateness is overwhelming.<\/p>\n By cruise ship you can enjoy the stunning panoramas between the islands. You may catch a glimpse of grizzly bears or black bears on the shores, but also look out for whales in the straits! Several species are regularly seen here, such as the humpback whale and the orca.<\/p>\n Glacier Bay National Park <\/strong>is located on the north side of the area. It is one of alaska’s most unspoilt natural parks, with exceptionally rich flora and fauna. From a rustic resort in the middle of nature you can make trips. A comfortable day cruise with a small boat makes it possible to get into small bays and estuaries. Even closer to nature is when you get in a kayak and slide silently along the banks over the water, or if you go out on foot.
